Candles on the Cobb
LRPBC Friday

Candles on the Cobb is arguably the most successful, most popular, and most original event ever produced in Lyme Regis. Devised and masterminded by Phil Street and Mike Higgs, the champion fund raisers of Lyme, the event, besides being spectacular, provides an opportunty for vistors and locals to remember loved ones, and also raises an awful lot of money for charity.
We were at the Power Boat Club with quite a large group of participants, cutting the tops of the plastic glasses which on the 24th August will be used to provide wind shelter for the 5,000 candles which light up the Cobb.
Alan Vian chats to Phil Street, Mike Higgs, Jane Whittingham, Laurence Madill, Les Herbert, Vicky Stickler and Nigel Bell.
Candles on the Cobb takes place on the evening of the 24th August, is preceded by a Torchlight Procession, and followed by the biggest Fireworks Display ever seen in Lyme. If you've never seen it before, its worth being there, and taking part by making a small dedication of your own, its worth travelling across the world to witness this, the view of the candles, burning mystically around the Cobb is nothing short of .....amazing. Video, including blood flowing, follows soon
More information, including how you can take part wherever you are in the world, can be found at www.candlesonthecobb.com
